Contact Centre Manager

Working in our purpose-built warehouse and offices in beautiful North Wales, The Book People have a rare opportunity for the right person to join our established and loyal team of enthusiastic managers. Directly reporting to the Head of Contact Centres we will want you to lead and motivate our 70 strong inbound contact centre staff.
Our contact centre is capable of taking 4,000 calls daily, throughout the year and 10,000 a day at our seasonal peak. As well as our 1.8 million home shoppers we also run 3rd party fulfilment for nationally recognised brands from the world of media and we have our eye on expansion.
You must have at least 5 years experience within contact centres and have also managed or deputised a contact centre of similar size to ours. You will also need to be comfortable and confident with the latest call centre technologies. If you have had experience of implementing telephone systems this would be a bonus.
Location: Bangor, UK
Salary: Competitive plus benefits

Java Developer
Joining a team of 6 developers you will take part in a mixture of development for customer facing commerce websites (own brand Book People, School Link and Red House fulfilment sites as well as designing and hosting websites for our fulfilment partners including Jamie Oliver, Richard & Judy, The Guardian and The Daily Mail) and an extranet CRM system. You must have either an IT related degree or relevant commercial development. Must be a good communicator, as you will be working directly with end users using agile methods to support the full software development lifecycle.
Opportunities exist to expand your skills with full J2EE and Open Source software stacks.
Skills: Essential: Languages Java/HTML/CSS/Javascript; Dev tools CVS/Eclipse; Application server Websphere/Tomcat.
Extremely Useful: Database Oracle/DB2
Desirable: IBM Websphere Commerce v6 / EJB / AJAX / Hibernate / Spring

Web Developer
Joining a team of 6 multi-disciplined developers in Bangor, this is an excellent opportunity to have a strong influence on and bring some flair into the existing technically focused team. You will translate design briefs created by our web design team - including creating and maintaining stylesheets and image manipulation for our customer facing commerce websites (own brand Book People, School Link and Red House sites as well as our fulfilment partners including Jamie Oliver, Richard & Judy, The Guardian and The Daily Mail).
Essential: HTML / CSS / JSP / strong Javascript & DOM / and Photoshop. You must be passionate about semantic Web Standards. Good knowledge of cross-browser development and security. Eye for design to bring some much needed web skills into the team.
Extremely Useful: Flash.

Trainee Account Manager
Are you driven by meeting and exceeding sales targets? Do you relish a challenging yet rewarding role? If you can answer yes to both questions you could be just the person we are looking for. Your key responsibilities will be providing support to our Book Events Organisers by ensuring that the best possible Events diary is secured for each of them from their existing customer base. You will ensure we are not only nurturing new business but also maximising return from any existing business whilst maintaining excellent company database and Microsoft Office records. You will need a confident telephone manner, attention to detail, organisational ability with excellent forward planning skills and IT literacy.
Location: Acton, UK
Salary: OTE £20,000 - £30,000 p.a. (Dependent upon experience).
