How to register with the Book People
It’s quick and easy to register an online account with the Book People. Simply follow the sign in/register link at the top of every page and enter your email address into the relevant box to begin the registration process.
New customers can create an account from scratch, but if you’ve shopped with us before as a guest or through our mail order catalogue, you can retrieve your existing Book Points, addresses and more by simply confirming a few details and creating a password for your account online.
If you don’t want to register an account just yet you can still buy books from the Book People as a guest shopper. Just remember, you won’t be able to spend your Book Points, track your orders or collect Points Passport stamps unless you register.
New Customers
Follow the sign in/register link, then enter your email address into the box provided and press ‘continue to registration’. Then simply complete the form (remember to save time by entering your postcode into the box provided and clicking on the ‘find address’ button – we can then find your address and fill it in for you!). Once you have filled in your details click ‘continue’, then your registration is complete and you will be taken to your Book People account! Next time you visit the website you can simply sign in using the email address and password you have provided.
Shopped with the Book People before?
If you are a mail order customer or have purchased books from the website as a guest shopper without creating an account, you can retrieve your Book Points, saved addresses and any delivery concessions you may be eligible for by activating your account online.
Follow the sign in/register link, then enter your email address or customer number (mail order customers – it is important to use your customer number here so that we can identify you and retrieve your details) into the box provided and press ‘continue’. For security purposes you will be asked to confirm a few personal details and provide a password, when you press ‘continue’ your details will be retrieved and you will be taken to your Book People online account!
Guest shoppers
If you don’t want to register an account, you can still buy from the Book People as a guest shopper. Just remember, you won’t be able to spend your Book Points, track your orders or save your favourite addresses unless you register. If you place an order as a guest and decide that you would like to register after all, your order confirmation will give you the option to enter a password to create an online account.
Registering as a BFPO customer
BFPO customers must follow a strict procedure when registering a BFPO account online.
IMPORTANT: When registering as a BFPO customer, you must enter your BFPO address, but the postcode MUST be entered as HA46DQ (without a space) for your order to be processed. When using postcode look-up, please overwrite the address found with your BFPO address, but keep the postcode as HA46DQ.

Tips on choosing and protecting your password:
It is a good idea to choose a password which is easy for you to remember, but is not too personal to you or easy to guess. A good way of doing this is to choose a word and then replace one or more of the letters with numbers e.g. password becomes pa55w0rd. If you think that someone might know your password, change it as soon as possible - find out how to change your password.
See our Privacy Policy for information on how we store and use your details.
Why has my account been disabled?
If you have received an error whilst attempting to log in informing you that your account has been disabled, this may be because:
- An incorrect password has been entered too many times when trying to log in.
- Your account may have been manually disabled by a member of our team due to a previous payment discrepancy or suspected third-party re-sale activity on the account.
- It is possible that you previously had more than one active account, which we have merged into one account, leaving the others disabled.
If you would like to speak to a member of our team regarding your disabled account, please contact us.

My Bookshelf
What is the Bookshelf?
If you are browsing the website and see a book you like, but are not quite ready to make a purchase yet, add it to your Bookshelf to come back to at a later date.
How do I add a book to my Bookshelf?
As the Bookshelf is part of your account, you need to be logged in to use this feature. When you find a book you like, click on 'more info' and you will be given the option to 'Add to Bookshelf' alongside the 'Add to basket' button.
What can I do with the books in my Bookshelf?
You can remove items from your Bookshelf or add the books to your basket straight from your Bookshelf. Plus, if you can't keep our bargains to yourself, fill in the form provided to email your Bookshelf to a friend!
Please note:
Our stock changes on a regular basis, so some titles may be removed from your Bookshelf if they become unavailable. Please also bear in mind that some books might sell out before you return – the Bookshelf does not reserve you a copy of a book, but is simply a place to store the books you like until you are ready to make a purchase.
