My 9 year old son has become a huge Dickens fan overnight after studying 'David Copperfield' at school, I just wondered if there is anyone that could tell me whether or not the text in this collection is suitable for a child his age?

Should be in everyone's library -
Well, what can I say about this collection that has not already been said? Very little actually. An excellent collection of novels written by one of the English language's greatest exponents. Everyone knows of A Christmas Carol and Oliver, but there are other less well-known novels here too. This collection deserves to find a place on everyone's shelf.

Only the Book People could offer you a great bargain like this! -
16 fantastic classic books from a great writer at a price you just can't miss out on. Any lover of Charles Dickens is going to love this beautiful set of books with the new look covers. What a great bargain, thank you Book People!

"Beautiful collection!" -
What a beautiful collection! They look so smart together spread over two shelves on one of my bookcases, and I love the contemporary covers! A must-have for any bookworm or Dickens fan! It was also rather humbling when they arrived to see so many books, stories, pages and words all from the pen of one person all laid out like that. Only problem is that part of me doesn't want to read them for fear of ruining them!

"I love Dickens!" -
I'm thinking of buying this collection for my university module next year and was wondering if someone could tell me if the books contain the original illustrations? Thank you, I'm really hoping they do!
TBP says: Hi Katie, the books are sporadically illustrated but sorry we can not confirm if they are the illustrations featured in the original books. Thanks.

"A Dickens of a Dilemma" -
This vintage collection, with its contemporary illustrations provides the ideal opportunity to re-read old favourites, while exploring less familiar titles. But where to start? One is spoilt for choice - I set myself the target of one a week, but found I so quickly became addicted to "Hard Times" that I could not put it down. So perhaps a health warning should be issued with each set. "Reader Beware - highly infectious"
Jenny S. ( 08/03/2012)
"Fantastic value" -
Vintage Dickens Collection is fantastic value and might persuade others to invest in these books and start reading Dickens again.

"Valentine's Present" -
Dickens was a present from my husband for Valentines Day. Strange some may think but I love Great Expectations and he thought I would like the whole set of 16 books. Some I have not heard of or read before/as yet and I look forward to many happy hours of reading, especially on holiday. A lovely collection to add to any library.

"A brilliant historical snapshot" -
As an avid reader with a fascination for social history, I decided to revisit Dickens. The Charles Dickens Vintage Collection has not disappointed me; some I have read, many I haven't but each one has given me a wonderful insight into nineteenth century history. I love the images and, despite my difficulty in processing it sometimes, the language used. They say a writer always writes from experience and of what he/she observes in their life; this glimpse into the lives of Dickens characters is a brilliant historical snapshot of life in Victorian England. I love these books and highly recommend them for any reader, especially those studying literary or social history in the nineteenth century. Brilliant!

"Fall in love with Dickens all over again" -
This is a fabulous opportunity to own some classic Dickens, particularly in this key anniversary year. Great value for money, the package contains all the popular novels, as well as a couple that are less obvious, but great reads nonetheless. A must have for Dickens' fans and a good way to rediscover titles that many of us probably haven't read since school!
Maria ( 07/03/2012)
"Charles Dickens collection" -
Excellent set of books, some I have already read, some I have yet to read. It's nice to have the whole collection in the same series/layout. The price was fantastic as well.
Emma ( 06/03/2012)
"Charles Dickens Collection" -
What a wonderful collection of Charles Dickens' Classical books. All the wonderful old stories are there and I can't wait to read them. Some of the titles are well known and some lesser known so it's nice to have a choice of different tales to read. I think I will be lending them out to family members too as they have shown an interest in reading them. A great set at a very modest price.
Mrs. S. Sears ( 06/03/2012)
"Wow!" -
Amazing to see all of Charles Dickens' books all arrive at once, and all mine! But I was disappointed in the comparatively modern pictures on the covers: I would have liked something more obviously Dickensian. Having said that, what a bargain, I would never have been able to afford to buy each individual book.
Norma K ( 06/03/2012)
"Charles Dickens Collection" -
An excellent set of books - I am looking forward to many happy hours of reading. This collection is a good introduction to anyone wishing to explore some of the more popular works of Charles Dickens.
G Edwards ( 06/03/2012)
"Excellent value" -
I fabulous, comprehensive collection of Charles Dickens novels at an amazing price. I could never get into Dickens when I was younger, but in middle age I'm enjoying his humour.
Ruth ( 06/03/2012)
"What The Dickens!!" -
Just ordered the complete works of Mr Dickens. Have read them all before, but never had the collection. This is fantastic. I will have hours of fun reading these to our children.
John ( 06/03/2012)
"Charles Dickens" -
Very nice collection of books. My 12 year old son was over the moon when he had got them on his birthday.

"Vintage Charles Dickens Collection" -
I have been looking for a set of Dickens novels for decades and this one fits the bill perfectly. I can now re-read some of my favourites and complete reading the titles I haven't managed so far. Thank you.
James L ( 06/03/2012)
"Fantastic Value" -
I have never been able to get to grips with Dickens - the only one I've ever managed to read in the past is A Tale of two Cities, and that was on the strength of the first page, which is superbly written. Can't bear all the over the top characters and the fact that the women are either harridans or subservient mice! However, in this anniversary year I thought I'd try again with this set, as it is such good value. Tried reading Bleak House to my 11 year old, but after two chapters, decided all the discussion of the vagaries of the legal system were just too complicated for her, so we swopped to Oliver Twist, which she is enjoying. I'll just have to read Bleak House myself. Really enjoyed the fantastic description of a foggy, sooty London at the beginning, which has given me the will to read on. In summary, a very good value set of books, reasonably produced.
Julie ( 06/03/2012)
"What the Dickens?" -
Lovely books, beautiful modern covers. As soon as I had them on the library shelves, students started to borrow them.
Sharon ( 06/03/2012)
"Dickens 16 book set" -
This is a fabulous set of books and the value for money is extraordinary. The books are good quality and have beautiful front covers - typical of Vintage. Every major work is included and it would be difficult not to find one's personal favourite amongst these books, be it Great Expectations, David Copperfield or the less well known Barnaby Rudge and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. This set is a must for every lover of Dickens and at this price I would also highly recommend it to those who have not yet dipped into his works or just sampled one or two. If you love books you will love this set!
Judith ( 06/03/2012)
"Excellent value" -
Having bought a copy of Great Expectations in a leading bookstore for £11.99 for my daughter's birthday I was rather miffed when the Vintage Charles Dickens collection popped up on my email account. I promptly ordered the set and took the copy I had bought back to the shop for a refund. Whilst the collection did not arrive in time for her birthday, she was extremely pleased, although overwhelmed with the amount of reading for the future, with the set. I think they are excellant value for money. 16 books for just over the price of one hardback seems to be a no-brainer. I might even get to read and re-read some of them myself!
Jackie ( 06/03/2012)
"Brilliant Dickens Collection" -
I was looking to buy some Dickens when I came across this collection. A great selection at a really fantastic bargain price.
Jill ( 06/03/2012)
"What a Dickens" -
My family and I suspect most families had a collection of Dickens greatest hits - almost required - This set is very good value as paperbacks go they are pretty good of a decent size and printed quite well. Would say this is an absolute bargain - buy it.
Baskerville ( 05/03/2012)
"Vintage Dickens Collection" -
Obviously I haven't read them all yet, but it is good that they are unabridged and they seem to be good quality.
Pam ( 05/03/2012)
"Very good set" -
Very good set, very readable. Well worth having.
Mrs A Barlow ( 05/03/2012)
"Excellent" -
Excellent idea to publish a paperback set of Dickens. The printing quality is good and I was delighted with my purchase. Great value for money.
J Wyeth ( 05/03/2012)
"Charles Dickens Collection" -
My only criticism of these books is that the font is miniscule and that the lines of print are so close together. Had I had this information in advance, (or if I had seen the books in a shop) I would not have bought them. Even with reading glasses and good light, this text is challenging to read.
Rosemary ( 05/03/2012)
"The 'Dickens' of a Collection" -
16 excellent, well-bound books. An absolute bargain for £26. Must be worth a hundred £'s more.
Charles ( 05/03/2012)
"Vintage Dickens" -
This is a beautifully presented collection of Dickens work. Affordable to most budgets. I love that I can now review the great mans work, which I have, unfortunately not been able to do since my school days, in the 60's and 70's. Fantastic! Really enjoying my trip down memory lane. This collection has also given me the opportunity to read some of the works that I haven't read before. Thank you Book People.
Rachael ( 05/03/2012)
"Vintage Dickens" -
Impossible to review the content of the books as I haven't yet had a chance to read those books which I had not already read previously several years ago but the presentation of the set is very impressive and the price is astonishing. So... brilliant value for money.
