My son tried to read these on his own, but failed, and then I read the first in the series to him, but we all found it really dull with endless bits about minor quarrels between girls at school. I regret getting the whole set which I will now be giving away...

Sadly no illustrations -
These stories seem well written but there is a lot of text and no illustrations. I bought them for my 8-year-old daughter, who is a reasonable reader but she feels there is too much text, without any illustrations. They are the books that she picks up and puts straight down again. Would suit an avid reader better and hopefully she will read them next year when she is a more confident reader.
