The story collection -
My daughter also read some of these in the summer holidays. She is a confident reader in year 1, (stage 6 ORT) and enjoys the Julia Donaldson chapter books. Also a good age-appropriate party bag gift for children to take one book away with them at the end of a party.

The Story Collection -
A lovely box set, great for a special gift. Unfortunately I was disappointed as I bought them for my children to be able to help the with their first steps in reading. The stories are in great detail with paragraphs and many words. Unsuitable for them to be able to read themselves. Lovely books and stories though. Would have exchanged them but the postage to return these was £8.80!!!

Very disappointing -
These hardback books are too difficult for beginners and too babyish for more capable readers. My 5-year-old who is a confident reader would struggle with the language so I think the description is misleading. They are also small and hardback which is not always ideal for bedtime stories.

Great confidence builders -
My 5-year-old is loving this set which arrived earlier this week. They are just the right level for first chapter books and are fun to read. The text is smaller than in other early chapter books as they are the smaller hardback version of the books - this is helping my daughter have the confidence to read smaller text and I have no doubt she will progress quickly from these to proper chapter books in no time at all. Excellent value too!

"Brilliant books for Years 1 - 2 (Green / Orange level)" -
I borrowed some of these individually from the library for my daughter, and she loves them. The format is different from other reading schemes (namely ORT) which is a refreshing change, and the stories really quirky and interesting. These are ideal first chapter books, as reading them isn't a chore, and the illustrations are fab. My daughter started reading them just as she started reading Book Band Green, and some of the books are harder than others, therefore there is good progession. We have read about 5 from this collection now, but I will be buying this set so we have them all.
