5 starsTopping!
If you never used one of the recipes, it would still be worth getting this book as it is a marvellous read. It took me right back to my childhood. Nevertheless, I can recommend very highly the 'Great Fruit Cake', which I made recently - it was so delicious, and I am sure the other goodies will be just as tasty - 'Aunt Fanny's Treacly, Sticky Ginger Cake' is next! Or maybe 'Jammy Buns' .....

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, not only is it fun, easy to read, it has a lovely family feeling to it.
All the recipes are easy to use, they don't use extravagent ingredients, and is beautifully written! a classic book, with a personal touch from Jane Brocket!

5 starsCherry cake and adventures.
This book is brilliant. After reading the wonderfully chosen short story exerts and then the easy to follow recipes, I really believed that if I made the tasty things in this book then I too would have fantastic adventures big enough to rival anything that the Famous Five have ever done!
Although some of the recipes are for basic things like hard boiled eggs and toast this doesn't take anyjthing away from the fact that this is a great recipe book for any thing from breakfast treats to high teas and everything that may come in between. Of course, leaving you fortified for any adventures that may come your way. Absolutely wizard, topping or super.
