One Day (Paperback)
David Nicholls
-
Now a major feature film starring Jim Sturgess and Anne Hathaway, One Day follows the lives of Dexter and Emma on every 15th July for twenty years from 1988 onwards - the date they first met at their graduation. Author David Nicholls manages to succesfully emphasise the heartbreaking gap between the way we are and the way we were in this true-to-life story. Packed with hilarious and adorable characters, this is a wonderfully odd and heart-warming, not to mention emotional, look at love in our ever-changing lives. The novel won the Galaxy National Book Awards Popular Fiction Book of the Year in 2010.

Add reviewWonderful read -
This is a great book which alternately makes you laugh and cry. You swing from loving/hating Dexter and wanting to hug/slap Em. Ultimately, you end up loving them both. I haven't enjoyed a book so much in a long while. The film doesn't do it justice.

"Outstanding" -
This book was simply wonderful. The characters feel so real and vivid that you put the book down feeling like you know Dexter and Emma. I desperately wanted to keep reading it but at the same time wanted to put it down to make it last longer! Beautifully written and very realistic, it was simply brilliant.

"Just brilliant!" -
I have just finished reading this book and I can honestly say that I have not enjoyed a book so much in a long time. The carefully drawn characters are easy to relate to and the relationship between the two protagonists is unbelievably real. Witty, charming, heart-breaking and simply brilliant I could not put this down, and was extremely disappointed when, on reaching the final page, I had to.
