At Elizabeth David's Table -

Really brillant book as well as recipes and the whole narrative draws you in and you really want to try out them out - lovely 'graphics' at start of each chapter, foodie pictures (which I think are essential) plus the fact that she she shares my initials so completely LOVE this book! I have just bought some more copies for friends for Christmas.....

How can I assure you that this is a good buy?I have a hundred-plus cookbooks. Since buying it, this is the one that spends least time on the bookshelf and most time in the kitchen getting spattered and food stained.I think it is so good because it is European food from the Post-War Pre-Supermarket period. Consequently the recipes come from simple continental kitchens, the ingredients reflect that. The food is simple, unchallenging and 100% worth trying. I'm stocking up as they are the perfect gift for any cook, no matter how confident.

Lovely. This is just a classic no-nonsense cook book with glorious illustrations. Lovely to look at with some good old fashioned, tasty recipes. One of the best.

"Fabulous" -

Fabulous if you love to cook; just as good if you prefer to read. A great addition to anyone's collection or would look great just on the coffee table!

"At Elizabeth David's Table" -

For me there has been no better cook than Elizabeth David. Inspirational and easy to follow. Most modern day cookery writers are a pale imitation. This book is very well put together and brought up to date. The illustrations are excellent and the narrative fascinating. As for the recipes... Well, she sets the example. "Sometimes you have to let the food speak for itself". Having treated myself to a copy I am now ordering two more for my daughters.
