"Nicely written" -
I always find Anita Shreve's books enjoyable and well written, and this is no exception. The outcome is more or less predictable and I did not feel that chapters finished on a knife edge. There seemed to me to be quite a lot of irrelevant padding in the book and, as a result, it took me an unusually long time to finish it. She's written better.
