A Street Cat Named Bob (Hardback)

James Bowen -

James Bowen's A Street Cat Named Bob tells the author's story of how, when he was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, the last thing he needed was a pet. But when he found an injured ginger cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he couldn't resist helping. Christening the cat Bob, he slowly nursed him back to health and then sent him on his way, imagining he'd never see him again. But Bob had other ideas and soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, helping to heal the scars of each other's troubled pasts.

A Street Cat Named Bob -

What a fabulous book, nice easy read, with a good story, sad in parts, happy in others. Good read even if you don't like cats, you will soon change. Enjoy.

"A lovely read" -

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Met James and Bob a few years ago outside Angel tube and always wondered what had happened to them as hadn't seen them around London since. The release of the book was a nice surprise. Such a lovely heart-warming read, wish all the best to James and Bob in the future :) (also the Book People's service was great too)

"A story to melt your heart" -

All the things I wanted to say have already been said in these reviews - devotion to and unconditional love for one another; nice to have unusually a happy ending; would love to meet them; changed my view of Big Issue sellers. Bob and James were destined to meet one another and become such inseparable friends. I didn't want the book to end. I too look forward to the film.

My friend lent me the book after taking it with her to Canada to read on holiday and I just couldn't put it down. A lovely story.

This book is fabulous and inspirational from start to finish. The relationship between James and Bob is beautiful and their faith in one another truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing your story Mr Bowen, I look forward to the film!

"A Street Cat Named Bob" -

What a wonderful book this is. I got it yesterday and finished reading it this morning. Both Bob and James are amazing having overcome so much in their lives. They are also so devoted to each other. Let's hope a follow-up book will be published. May both have many more happy years together.

"Amazing!" -

Brilliant book. Being an animal lover I don't like to read books about them as they usually have sad endings. This made a welcome change to have a book with such a heartfelt storyline and amazing characters. Very well done to both James and Bobcat :)

"A really lovely, wonderful book" -

I bought 2 books to read on holiday, A Street Cat named Bob was one of them. I started to read it on the flight out, and read it straight through, I could not put it down. I wonder if a film will be made. It would be great.

"Heart-warming Story" -

Agree with all previous reviews; I also could not put the book down - tho' I had bought it as a present for a friend who loves ginger cats! I am so pleased for James that this really unique cat has been so special in his life and resulted in such a turn-around for him, not to mention the companionship. I just hope this so very valued relationship continues for a long time - they deserve each other. I have a beautiful "rescue" cat - a Persian and she is also great company. Keep up the good work James, take care (I do hope he reads all the comments!?). I really wish I could meet them!

"A Street Cat Named Bob" -

Everyone, especially all animal lovers, should read this book. It is a wonderful heartwarming and touching story. I met James and Bob for the first time about two years ago now and they both made a huge impact on me. I was so excited when I heard about this book and no one could be more pleased than me that it's become a No.1 bestseller. I hope they have each other for a long time to come.

"Heartwarming with an important message" -

I loved this book. It was so refreshing to read something with a happy ending. It highlighted the wonderful effect that a little animal's love can have on someone whom the rest of the world has forgotten. Beautiful story, I will never ignore a big issue seller/homeless person again. Thank you James and Bob!

"Wonderful" -

My friend and I are both owned by ginger tom cats. I am glad our cats live in the country but how good that Bob and James found each other. They enriched each other's lives. I hope their luck continues to be good and for a long long time.

"Just wonderful" -

This is such a heartwarming story of how a beautiful little stray cat was nursed back to health by recovering drug addict James Bowen and how they both learned the meaning of unconditional love. Beautifully written - highly recommended.
