"Best ever for beginners" -

I sent both my daughters off to university with copies of this. Both now are competent cooks in their own very different ways. One was brought up a vegetarian but has now embraced meat cookery and enjoys entertaining. Delia gives such great practical advice - I can thoroughly recommend this.

"A proper cookery book" -

This is the one! I totally concur with all other reviews - I too had it given to me by my mum decades ago; it is battered and post-itted but very precious! I am now ordering one each for 3 nearly-grown-up offspring!

"It makes me smile" -

I quite agree with previous reviews, this is the cookery book I always return to and mine is filled with notes and memories of when I made recipes with the children. Now I give one to the children as they leave home, with lots of notes in to remind them of the fun we've had cooking together.

"Dessert Island cookery book" -

My mum bought this for me 25 years ago, other books have nestled close to it on the shelf but none have been lifted down so often as this one with trusted results. I will buy a copy for my children when they leave home!

"A Kitchen Must Have" -

This is a timeless collection of recipes and advice from the Queen of British Cookery. I tried twice to make profiteroles from a recipe by a chef famous for his desserts and spun sugar (better not mention his name!) but they went badly wrong so I turned to this cookery bible and used Delia's recipe and they were a triumph. I will never make the same mistake again - this is the 'go to' recipe book that everyone should own.
