This season your local cinema is likely to be showing a number of huge hit films, but would it surprise you to know that many of them started out as books? That’s right – some of these films are expected to make millions at the box office, but they were originally enjoyed in book form, and if you want to enjoy these amazing films in print you can do so right here at the Book People.

Right now, three of our favourite book-to-film conversions include …

1) The Avengers

It might have come out at the cinema a little while ago now, but people are still raving about this film, and rightly so! At the Book People we can’t get enough of this superhero ensemble, but we must admit that we prefer the original comics. Either way though, if you want to really get into the Avengers you’ll be needing our Avengers guide book – ‘The Avengers: The Ultimate Guide to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!’

This book details every intricate detail of your new favourite superheroes, including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Incredible Hulk and Black Widow. There’s also more than enough intricate original artwork to keep you entertained for hours – a must for superhero fans! Available at the Book People for just £6.99, down from £17.99.

2) The Perks of Being a Wallflower

One of Emma Watson’s first non-Harry Potter films also happens to be one of American author Stephen Chbosky’s best-loved novels. ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ is a fantastic coming of age novel written in an epistolary format; with the main character Charlie writing to an anonymous friend about his hopes and dreams. Charlie is an introverted and shy adolescent, but his letters show how he slowly begins to change as life takes him in a new direction. If you’re planning on going to see the new film at the cinema, read it first! Buy it from the Book People for £3.99, down from £14.99.

3) Private Peaceful

Michael Morpurgo’s stunning novel ‘Private Peaceful’ is to be released as a hit new feature film this year, but why not see for yourself whether you prefer the book or the film version? From the author of the hit book and film ‘War Horse’, the story is incredibly moving and follows the life of Private Thomas ‘Tommo’ Peaceful as he’s sent to the front line in the Second World War. Get this heart wrenching tale for £4.99 from the Book People, down from £10.99.
