Christmas books for young adults

Young adults (children aged 11+) can be some of the most difficult people to buy gifts for at Christmas; they’re newly independent, but it is still important to make sure that when you buy a gift for them that it is not only interesting, but appropriate for them as well. Young adult fiction (what the kids call YA fiction) has seen a number of film adaptations over the past few years, most notably The Hunger Games films, so we would recommend some of these books as a good place to start when looking for a Christmas book for young adults. We’ve also added another few books which young adults might be interested in, too…

The Hunger Games Collection – Suzanne Collins
Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy transports readers to a dystopian future, run by the evil President Snow, where children are forced to take part in a deadly game to win favour for themselves and their village. Young adults have been loving the books and the films for the past few years, so if you know a young adult who is yet to read the books, this collection is an ideal gift for them this Christmas. Plus, it’s three gifts in one!

The Fault in Our Stars – John Green

The no-holds barred wit, sensitivity and sharp observations of lead character Hazel mean that The Fault in Our Stars will move young readers to laugh and cry in equal measures. One of the biggest books of the year, this is the perfect Christmas book for young adults.

Sixteen-year-old Clary is a normal teenager who witnesses something horrific and finds her life changed forever as she is dragged deep into a New York underworld she never knew existed… This fantastical series is full of mystery, intrigue and betrayal – flawless young adult fiction!
