  • Got, Not Got: Southampton FC

    Derek Hammond

    Product Code: GNGS
    Hardback
    Hand-picked favourites
Got, Not Got: The Lost World of Southampton is an Aladdin's cave of memories and memorabilia, guaranteed to whisk you back to The Dell's fondly remembered 'Golden Age' of mud and magic - as well as a Saints-mad childhood of miniature tabletop games and imaginary, comic-fuelled worlds. The book recalls a more innocent era of football, lingering longingly over relics from the good old days - Saints stickers and petrol freebies, league ladders, big-match programmes and much more - revisiting lost football culture, treasures and pleasures that are 100 per cent Southampton. If you were a Junior Saint, one of the army of obsessive soccer kids at any time from the Ted Bates era to the early days of the Premier League, then this is the book to recall the mavericks - Channon, Keegan and Stokes; Paine, Armstrong and Le Tissier - and the marvels of the lost world of football.

  • Redditch Through Time

    Ray Jones

    Product Code: TTRD
    Paperback
    Hand-picked favourites
Redditch is historically known because of the success of its needle, fishing tackle and cycle factories. Unfortunately most of the old factories have been demolished. This has been coupled with the massive urban transformation undergone by Redditch largely as a result of its designation as a new town in 1964. The town continues to struggle to find a vibrant and fresh identity and still tends to be regarded as principally a dormitory town for the nearby Birmingham conurbation. This book essentially looks at the changes in Redditch that have occurred over the last 100 years or so. Many historic houses, factories and roads have disappeared in that period and much of the old charm of Redditch has been lost as a result. Hopefully this book will provoke more thought about the importance of careful preservation in ensuring that an industrial town forges a modern identity that is well rooted in the past.
