The winner of Book People's Bedtime Story Competition 2017, Frasier Cox's There's a Boy Just Like Me is a heart-warming tale of friendship between the author and a refugee who shares the same interests and childhood hopes and dreams.

In 2017, we asked children aged 5 to 11 to write a bedtime story between 200 and 800 words on the theme of friendship. The response was astounding and out of over 1,300 entries, Frasier's story was selected as the winner by a panel of judges that included TV favourite Claudia Winkleman and radio DJ and Radio Boy author Christian O'Connell. Frasier's story was chosen for his focus on important issues and beautiful storytelling.

At least 35% of the price of the book will be donated to Save the Children, a charity that fights every single day for children's futures. Sold exclusively through us at BookPeople.co.uk, Frasier's book features illustrations from top children's book illustrator Alison Brown and published by Little Tiger.

Please note that this book is exempt from all promotions due to its charitable donation.

This is a super book for superhero-mad children! An award-winning book written by David Solomons, it's a zesty and refreshing read full of funny situations.

Luke is a comic-mad 11-year old who shares a tree house with his geeky older brother, Zack.

Luke's only mistake is to go for a wee right at the wrong time. While he's gone, an alien gives his undeserving, never-read-a-comic-in-his-life brother superpowers and then tells him to save the universe.

Luke is massively annoyed about this, but when Zack is kidnapped by his arch-nemesis, Luke and his friends have only five days to find him and save the world...

Celebrating the actions and achievements of 25 of the world's greatest figures, Stand Up, Stand Out! is the follow-up to the phenomenally successful What Would She Do?

Focusing on rebel heroes who overcame seemingly impossible circumstances and stood up for what they believed in and also those who spoke out against injustices, this book is packed with informative profiles and incredible artwork of the likes of Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou and J.K. Rowling.

As well as world leaders and contemporary favourites, this book focuses on unsung heroes including Irena Sendler (who rescued 2,500 children in World War II) and Juliane Koepcke (who survived an airplane crash in a rainforest aged just 17).

Each profile is also accompanied by a 'What Can You Do?' section which asks the reader to think about their actions if they encountered similar obstacles to these inspiring figures.

Praised by Dermot O'Leary, two-time Olympian Matthew Syed's You Are Awesome is a motivational book that encourages children to challenge the beliefs that hold them back.

Full of tips and advice that will inspire a more positive mindset, it's encouraging and empowering reading for any introverted children. Matthew explains how having a negative attitude and thinking you can't do things more often than not leads to not being able to carry out tasks.

However, if your children can build their resilience and change their mindset, things could be very different. He looks at how everyone from Mozart to Serena Williams got to the top of their respective fields through hard work and dedication and how kids can use these figures as inspiration on their way to becoming happy, successful adults.

All the electricity powering the internet weighs the same as an apricot; the world's biggest truck could carry 90 elephants; and the average person walks up to a distance of more than 64,000 miles in their lifetime.
DK's It Can't Be True 2 is full of facts that are strange but true - and many of them are backed up by awe-inspiring visual comparisons.

Mind-boggling from start to finish, this fascinating non-fiction book reveals how all of the world's continents can fit into the pacific ocean; the world's trees could fill North and South America; and a hippo's mouth can open wide enough to swallow a car whole.

Ideal for those who prefer non-fiction, this is a book that will delight adults just as much as children with its jaw-dropping visuals and incredible facts.
