The winner of Book People's Bedtime Story Competition 2017, Frasier Cox's There's a Boy Just Like Me is a heart-warming tale of friendship between the author and a refugee who shares the same interests and childhood hopes and dreams.

In 2017, we asked children aged 5 to 11 to write a bedtime story between 200 and 800 words on the theme of friendship. The response was astounding and out of over 1,300 entries, Frasier's story was selected as the winner by a panel of judges that included TV favourite Claudia Winkleman and radio DJ and Radio Boy author Christian O'Connell. Frasier's story was chosen for his focus on important issues and beautiful storytelling.

At least 35% of the price of the book will be donated to Save the Children, a charity that fights every single day for children's futures. Sold exclusively through us at BookPeople.co.uk, Frasier's book features illustrations from top children's book illustrator Alison Brown and published by Little Tiger.

Please note that this book is exempt from all promotions due to its charitable donation.

Dr. Seuss wrote The Cat in the Hat in response to a plea to make first reading books for young children more entertaining and appealing to read. The madcap illustrations and wild exuberance of The Cat in the Hat verses certainly fit the brief, and this picture book version of the rhyming classic introduces the craziness to an even younger audience from 3+. If your youngster loves Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are, then they will relish the silly madness of The Cat in the Hat.

It's the literary equivalent of buried treasure -- seven newly-discovered stories by Dr. Seuss! The first new Seuss stories to emerge since 1990! The amazing stories are full of typical Seuss humour, rhyme and rhythm and are all beautifully illustrated. They include 'The Bippolo Seed,' in which a scheming cat leads an innocent duck to make a bad decision; 'The Rabbit, the Bear, and the Zinniga-Zanniga,' about a rabbit who is saved from a bear via a single eyelash; 'Gustav the Goldfish,' about a fish that grew and grew; 'Tadd and Todd,' a tale about twins; 'Steak for Supper,' about fantastic creatures who follow a boy home in anticipation of a steak dinner; 'The Strange Shirt Spot,' about a spot of dirt that gets everywhere; and 'The Great Henry McBride,' about a boy whose far-flung career fantasies were bested only by those of Dr. Seuss himself. The perfect book for any Seuss fan, young or old!

Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock are on the hunt for treasure in this adventure, which partly inspired the Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson feature film. Marking the first appearance of the eccentric Professor Cuthbert Calculus, Red Rackham's Treasure sees the young reporter and friends travelling and searching for treasure - something they believe to be the sunken remains of a 17th century ship called the Unicorn. Herge was an author very much of his time and that helps bring the characters to life in this thrilling journey.

'I am sure to win, but we will race if you like.' So laughs the hare when a slow tortoise challenges him to run all the way to the old cart. His speed is never in doubt but perhaps it is the hare's boastfulness that should make us question the likely outcome of the race? The simple message of this La Fontaine fable - that modesty and perseverance will always be rewarded - is gloriously told in this lovely picture book from Brian Wildsmith, an internationally acclaimed writer and artist for children. His simple words and sumptuous illustrations bring a freshness to this timeless fable and the stunning new cover design and imaginative interior typography will delight a whole new generation of young Wildsmith fans.
