The Process

To enter the competition, you'll need to be a young writer aged between 5 and 11. Stories should be 200-800 words in length, and - of course - perfect for bedtime! The theme this year is friendship and there's lots of inspiration available in the stories you already know and love, from best buddies Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet to the magical trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione. If you need some help on getting started, take a look at our Top Tips for Writing a Bedtime Story.

The competition opens for entries on 10 July 2017 and closes on 2 October 2017. Entrants should ask a parent, guardian or teacher to submit their story through our online form.

Once your story has been submitted, all you'll need to do is cross your fingers (and toes and arms and legs!) and look out for the announcement of our shortlist in October.
