There's A Boy Just Like Me by Frasier Cox Launch Day

Last year, 10 year-old Frasier Cox was announced as the winner of our Bedtime Story Competition 2017 for his moving tale There's A Boy Just Like Me, which tells the story of a hypothetical friendship between himself and a refugee boy.

Since winning the competition, we've been very busy preparing to bring Frasier's brilliant book into the world. Top illustrator Alison Brown put pencil to paper and turned Frasier's characters into wonderful illustrations and the team at Little Tiger worked their magic on creating the best book possible with Frasier's words!

And now, you can get your hands on your very own copy of There's a Boy Just Like Me.

Frasier found out he was our winner in October 2017 after wowing the judges with his entry. Our panel of judges included Claudia Winkleman and radio DJ and Radio Boy author Christian O'Connell, both of whom were very moved by Frasier's story. Head Judge Claudia said, "Frasier's story is incredibly touching and thought provoking. It's absolutely remarkable that a young boy has written such a thoughtful story". For winning the competition, Frasier's story was illustrated by top children's illustrator Alison Brown, professionally published by Little Tiger and is now sold exclusively by us at Book People.

We recently announced our charity partnership with Save the Children UK. With the aim of improving the lives of children around the world, including those forced to flee from their homes as refugees, Save the Children UK are the perfect partners for us to be raising money for with Frasier's book. At least 35% of the sale price of the book will be going to Save the Children UK.

There's A Boy Just Like Me was officially launched on Monday 18th June, the first day of Refugee Week. This meant Frasier and his mum had a busy day, with live TV and radio appearances in the morning and recording for more coverage that will be aired later in the week. His first appearance was on BBC Breakfast where he chatted to hosts Louise Minchin and Charlie Stayt about why he wrote the story and what it was like seeing his work as a real picture book for the first time.

The winner of Book People's Bedtime Story Competition 2017, Frasier Cox's There's a Boy Just Like Me is a heart-warming tale of friendship between the author and a refugee who shares the same interests and childhood hopes and dreams.

In 2017, we asked children aged 5 to 11 to write a bedtime story between 200 and 800 words on the theme of friendship. The response was astounding and out of over 1,300 entries, Frasier's story was selected as the winner by a panel of judges that included TV favourite Claudia Winkleman and radio DJ and Radio Boy author Christian O'Connell. Frasier's story was chosen for his focus on important issues and beautiful storytelling.

At least 35% of the price of the book will be donated to Save the Children, a charity that fights every single day for children's futures. Sold exclusively through us at BookPeople.co.uk, Frasier's book features illustrations from top children's book illustrator Alison Brown and published by Little Tiger.

Please note that this book is exempt from all promotions due to its charitable donation.
