We're Partnering with Save the Children on the Bedtime Story Competition Winning Book

We're so close to the publish date of Bedtime Story Competition 2018 winner Tom Burlison's book now and we just can't wait for you all to read it! Seven-year-old Tom from Epsom was crowned the winner for his fun story, The Incredible Journey, back in January. Since then, top children's book illustrator Sara Sanchez and the team at Little Tiger Press have been working hard to turn Tom's story into a real-life published picture book! From 16th June 2019, the book will be available to buy exclusively through our site. And, just like last year, we are proud to announce that at least 35% of the proceeds from each book sold will be going to our charity partner, Save the Children.

We're Partnering with Save the Children on the Bedtime Story Competition Winning Book

Save the Children are an incredible charity who improve the lives of children around the world. Tom is thrilled that his book will be supporting a good cause. He said, "It's brilliant that my book is going to raise lots of money for Save the Children and that makes me feel so happy."

Sayyeda Salam, Partnerships and Philanthropy Director at Save the Children, said, "We are delighted to be partnering with the Book People on the release of Tom's fantastic book. Reading sparks children's imaginations. It's integral to a child's education and development and has the power to transform their future. The money raised from the sale of Tom's brilliant book will go towards supporting Save the Children's programmes, to build a better world for children."

Out of the 1,000 entries on the theme of imagination, Tom's story grabbed the attention of our judges, including Head Judge, Olympian and author, Alex Gregory. The book tells the story of two friends who find excitement in everyday life. Ruby teaches Elliott to use his imagination to turn every journey to school into an adventure. They travel through puddle portals into pirate lands and even get chased by dinosaurs!

At just seven-years-old Tom will become one of the UK's youngest ever picture book authors. On winning the competition he said, "I felt really excited when I found out my story would get published and it's amazing that I will be one of the youngest ever published authors and that my book will soon be available for people to buy."

With the money raised from Tom's book, Save the Children will be able to assist children on their journeys to school, wherever they are and whatever obstacles are in their way. Take a look on our website on June 16th to purchase your copy and keep an eye out for the Bedtime Story Competition 2019 which will be opening very soon.
