A. A. Milne

A.A. Milne is the creator of Winnie-the-Pooh, a character who was inspired by his son Christopher Robin Milne’s selection of cuddly toys (which can now all - apart from Roo - be viewed in New York Public Library. The author was born in London on 18 January, 1882 and died on 31 January, 1956.

Milne served in both World Wars and also worked as a poet, writing the children’s poetry collections When We Were Young and Now We Are Six. He also had a successful careeer as a playwright and played for a cricket team alongside other literary heavyweights J. M. Barrie and Arthur Conan Doyle.
