An author and historian, Alison Weir was born on 8 July 1951 in London and has written many history books including biographies and novels. Her first non-fiction book, Britain’s Royal Families, was published in 1989 and provided an overview of the monarchy. She followed this up with biographies of famous Tudors and the Wars of the Roses.
Interested in history from an early age, Alison dreamed of becoming a history teacher and worked as a civil servant and a housewife. She also ran a school for children with learning difficulties. She now lives in Surrey and believes that, as a historical author, it is her duty to write stories that are as close to the truth as possible.
