Our latest Ann Cleeves collection contains two Vera Stanhope novels (6, 7 and 8 in the series) and two of her Shetland books (6 and 7). Both of these series have been adapted into popular television dramas, but we believe the novels are even more compelling.

The Vera (a character played by Brenda Blethyn) novels - The Seagull, Harbour Street and The Moth Catcher - find the clever but chaotic detective delving into a case that could destroy the close-knit community she lives in; on the trail of a killer who murdered someone on a packed train; and investigating the links between two bodies that are connected but found nowhere near each other.

Shetland's Thin Air and Cold Earth find Detective Jimmy Perez (played in the series so perfectly by Douglas Henshall) on the case of a missing girl who claims to have seen a ghost of a child who drowned in the 1920s; and looking into a landslide that may or may not have killed his old friend Magnus Tait...

This collection includes books 6, 7 and 8 in Ann Cleeves' Vera Stanhope series and 6 and 7 in her Shetland series.

Ann Cleeves' bestselling series starring Detective Jimmy Perez has been a favourite with crime fans for years and the BBC adaptation of Shetland has brought her many more fans. This companion to the novels shows the readers exactly what this incredible location can offer.

An archipelago of more than 100 islands, Shetland is one of the most remote places in the United Kingdom and its 1,500 miles of shore means that wherever you stand, you'll have a view of the sea. Traditions are valued and celebrated on the islands, but new technologies and ways of working are also embraced.

Gloriously illustrated, this companion finds Ann Cleeves learning about the islands' past, people, the festivals that take place upon them and discovering how flora and fauna changes throughout the seasons. It's a lavish book that vividly captures Shetland in all its bleak and special beauty.

Thin Air is the sixth book in Ann Cleeves' Shetland series - now a major BBC One drama starring Douglas Henshall as detective Jimmy Perez, Shetland. A group of old university friends leave the bright lights of London and travel to Unst, Shetland's most northerly island, to celebrate the marriage of one of their friends to a Shetlander. But late on the night of the wedding party, one of them, Eleanor, disappears - apparently into thin air.

It's mid-summer, a time of light nights and unexpected mists. The following day, Eleanor's friend Polly receives an email. It appears to be a suicide note, saying she'll never be found alive.

Is there a secret that lies behind the myth? One so shocking that someone would kill - many years later - to protect? Ann Cleeves' striking Shetland novel explores the tensions between tradition and modernity that lie deep at the heart of a community, and how events from the past can have devastating effects on the present.

George Palmer-Jones, an elderly birdwatcher who decided quietly to look into the brutal crime, discovered mixed feelings aplenty. Still, he remained baffled by a deed that could have been motivated by thwarted love, pure envy, or something else altogether. But as he and his fellow "twitchers" flocked from Norfolk to Scotland to the Scilly Isles, in response to rumours of rare sightings, George - with help from his lovely wife, Molly - gradually discerned the true markings of a killer. All he had to do was prove it ...before the murderer strikes again.
