Widely recognised as a literary genius and the author of classics including “Oliver Twist”, “Great Expectations” and “A Christmas Carol”, Charles Dickens was born in Landport, Hampshire on 7 February, 1812. Dickens first rose to fame with The Pickwick Papers, a novel that was originally published in serial form.
One of the most famous figures from the Victorian era, many of Charles Dickens’ books have been adapted into various different media including theatre shows, TV series and films. With his wit and incredible storytelling skills, much of his work was satirical and remains relevant to this day.
