Famous for his adventure stories featuring Dirk Gently (a character named after his son, who he has now co-written a number of books with), Clive Cussler is one of the world’s top-selling authors. Born in Aurora, Illinois on 15 July 1931, Clive Cussler worked as a copywriter for an advertising agency after leaving the military. He started writing fiction when his wife started working nights and he needed something to do after putting his children to bed.
Clive Cussler’s books are full of larger-than-life plots and fantastical elements that ask ‘What if?’ With 24 Dirk Pitt novels and 13 NUMA books to his name, he has sold millions of books all over the world and often makes cameos in his own stories. In his spare time, he likes to scuba dive and is also the founder and chairman of the real-life National Underwater and Marine Agency.
