D.H. Lawrence

Known for the books Sons and Lovers, Lady Chatterley’s lover and John Thomas and Lady Jane, D.H. Lawrence was born on 11 September, 1885 in Eastwood, London and died on 2 March, 2930 in France.

An author and poet described by E.M. Forster as ‘the greatest imaginative novelist of our generation’, he worked as a junior clerk before winning a short story competition in the Nottingham Guardian. He also worked as a teacher while writing poetry and visited Australia, lived in the United States and Italy. He continued to write right up until his death.
