E. Nesbit

An English author and poet, E. Nesbit was born on 15 August, 1958 and died on 4 May, 1924. Her most famous works include Five Children and It (the book that introduced the Psammead) and The Railway Children.

She collaborated on over 60 children's books and was co-founder of the Fabian Society, a socialist organization affiliated to the Labour Party. She married Hubert Bland in April, 1880 and was famed for her generosity and parties. She was friends with many literary figures including H.G. Wells and George Bernard Shaw.
