Elizabeth Jane Howard

Born on 2 March, 1923, Elizabeth Jane Howard worked as an actress and model before becoming an author. Her popular series, The Cazalet Chronicles, was adapted into a BBC TV series. She won an award for her first novel, The Beautiful Visit, and enjoyed a 60-year career in writing.

Elizabeth was married to Kingsley Amis from 1965 to 1983 and appointed CBE in 2000. She died on 2 January, 2014.
