Eva Ibbotson

Eva Ibbotson was born on 21 January, 1925 and died on 20 October, 2010. An Austrian-born British novelist best-known for 2001's Smarties Prize-winning Journey to the River Sea, she is also the author of imaginative, humorous and fantastical stories including final novel, The Abominables.

She was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal on three occasions and was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.
