Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. The Book People
Described as ‘the American Tolkien’, George Raymond Martin was born on 20 September, 1948 and writes fantasy novels under the name George R.R. Martin. The author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series (originally intended as trilogy!) that inspired HBO’s TV phenomenon Game of Thrones, George’s books are page-turners full of mystic elements where no character is safe. His background includes stints working as a story editor on TV shows The Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast and Max Headroom.
George’s first published writing was actually in the form of a letter to Marvel Comics praising an issue of The Fantastic Four in 1961. He is such a huge fan of comics that he bought the first ever Comic-Con ticket. He still writes his books on a 30-year-old PC using Wordstar 4.0 and contributes to Not a Blog. Now living in New Mexico, George R.R. Martin is a big fan of New York Mets and New York Jets and is actively involved in a number of wolf charities.
