Georgette Heyer

Georgette Heyer was born on 16 August, 1902 and died on 4 July, 1974. Specialising in historical romance and detective fiction, she started writing in 1921 and turned a story written for her younger brother into the seminal The Black Moth.

She helped establish the Regency romance genre and was hugely influenced by Jane Austen. Most of her early novels were set before 1800 and surprisingly she never gave an interview of appeared in public throughout her entire career.
