Born in England on 7 December, 1981, Holly Smale is the author of the Geek Girl series and has won many awards over the course of her career. She has also been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Geek Girl was the bestselling young adult fiction title in 2013 and the series was originally meant to be a trilogy but proved so successful there will now be six books.
Holly loved reading and writing from an early age and was a model for two years from the age of 15. She did not enjoy this experience but used it as an inspiration for Geek Girl and based the main character Harrier Manners on herself. She studied English Literature at Bristol University and has travelled extensively. She taught English in Japan.
