One of the nation’s most familiar and popular cooks, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was born on 14 January, 1965 in Hampstead, London and is a food writer and environmental campaigner. He is known for hosting Channel 4’s River Cottage television series. In the show, he tried to become a self-reliant, downshifted farmer in rural England. Hugh’s recipes are made from locally produced and sourced fruits, vegetables, fish, eggs and meat. The author of many cookbooks, Hugh was brought up in Gloucestershire and studied philosophy and psychology during his education.
