Darkly humorous and very twisted, this book introduces Zack, a writer who has an overactive imagination and two teenage children. There's a murder on his street so he uproots his family to the suburbs. Their new and peaceful life doesn't last long, especially when Zack comes across a dead body and thinks he knows who the killer is. Things get even worse when Zack realises he'll need to track down the murderer himself to protect his family...

The second book, Bad Guys, finds Zack becoming a journalist and stumbling into a web of murder and deceit; Bad Luck has a body being found on a lakeside fishing camp; and Bad News follows Zack as he finds a dead body in his friend Trixie Snelling's basement...
