Born Marion Gibbons in 1936 in Glasgow, Scotland, M.C. Beaton has written a huge number of romance and mystery novels since 1979. Among the bestselling books by M.C. Beaton are the “Agatha Raisin” series, the “Hamish Macbeth” series and the “Daughters of Mannerling”.
A former theatre critic and chief reporter at the Daily Express, M.C. Beaton was also a buyer for the Glasgow bookshop. The most-borrowed adult author in Britain, she has lived in the United States and now divides her time between a cottage in the Cotswolds and Paris.
