Malorie Blackman

Born in Clapham, London on 8 February, 1962, Malorie Blackman was Children's Laureate from 2013 to 2015 and has written various books for children and adults – including the hugely influential and popular Noughts and Crosses series (2001).

She has also written literature and drama for television, including episodes of Byker Grove. Much of Malorie's work explores themes of racism and violence and she's been referenced in Tinie Tempah's Written in the Stars. Malorie received an OBE for services to children's literature in 2009.
