One of the most recognisable foodie faces, Nigella Lawson was born on 6 January, 1960 in Wandsworth, London and has worked a as journalist, broadcaster and television personality in addition to hosting cookery programmes and writing cookbooks. The daughter of Nigel Lord Lawson of Blaby, she has a Masters degree in medieval and modern languages and started her career working in publishing and then moved into journalism.
She became a restaurant critic and then went freelance before publishing her first cookbook, How to Eat, in 1998. This book went on to sell over 300,000 copies in the UK and set her on the way to culinary superstardom. She followed this with many more bestselling books and TV shows. She prefers not to refer to herself as a chef and often states that she cooks for his own pleasure.
