    Paul Harrison

    Product Code: BXLSC
    Paperback
Former police profiler Paul Harrison has spent over two decades researching and interviewing many of the key people involved in one of the world's most intriguing murder mysteries: The Zodiac! An expert in serial killer interviews, Harrison has travelled the globe interviewing many of the world's worst, most vicious murderers in an attempt to understand their psyche and what drives them kill. Hunting the Zodiac, his journey and investigation into this infamous case, is potentially, outside the official police inquiries, the most comprehensive examination yet. He struck up a connection with SFPD Detective Inspector David Toschi - who led the police Zodiac investigation for nine years - which opened up new avenues of investigation, all of which are covered in this book. Using his police profiling skills, Paul dissects the case in detail, taking the reader through the police investigation, providing bespoke profiles of each suspect, crime scene and every facet of the mystery in a clear and objective manner. Harrison clears away the debris created by historical misreporting to give us, for the first time, a comprehensive, groundbreaking look at the case; and he provides his professional opinion of the identity of the killer. This is the ultimate book on The Zodiac, and essential reading for anyone with an interest in true crime and serial killers.

  • Freight in the Peak District

    Paul Harrison

    Product Code: BYJLD
    Paperback
The Peak District area of England has yielded limestone products since around the time of the Romans and by 1794 the Peak Forest Tramway arrived to help transport products further afield. By the time the Midland Railway arrived in the Buxton area in the 1860s, limestone and stone traffic was booming by rail. Even now large tonnages of raw limestone, aggregates and cement are dispatched all over the UK. This book illustrates some of these traffic flows, both past and present, and how they have changed locomotives and wagons. Some of these traffic flows are long-standing ones such as the Tunstead to Northwich, whereas others are more recent and short-term spot hire traffic. Privatisation in the mid-1990s saw EWS dominate the main flows but now DB Cargo, Freightliner Heavy Haul and GBRf all vie for lucrative flows from the four main rail-served quarries.

  • Mother Teresa

    Paul Harrison

    Product Code: AWODH
    Paperback
In 1997, the death of an 87-year-old nun in Kolkata, in India, sparked an outbreak of mourning across the globe. Why? The nun was Mother Teresa - one of the most iconic spiritual figures of the 20th century. She became famous for her work with, and compassion towards, the world's poorest people. She and the fellow nuns of her order tended to the vulnerable, sick and dying in the most poverty-stricken places, providing care, love and compassion where it was most needed. But who was this extraordinary woman, and what inspired her, the daughter of a wealthy Albanian businessman, to dedicate her life to such a cause? Mother Teresa looks at her remarkable story, and how she became such a popular and widely-celebrated figure. It looks at how and why she went about setting up her order as well as her work with people suffering from leprosy. The publicity she undertook to raise the profile of her work, and the criticism she faced, are also discussed. The Catholic faith, and the charitable work the Church undertakes around the world, is explained, as are some of its more complex terms and processes. Boxes on each spread provide background information on topics as varied as how saints are created, the Nobel Peace Prize, Kolkata, and how an order of nuns is created.
