Robert Ludlum

Best known for writing the bestselling Jason Bourne books that inspired the series of hit films starring Matt Damon, Robert Ludlum was born on 25 May, 1927 in New York and died on 12 March, 2001. In total, he wrote 27 thrillers and it is estimated that there are between 290 and 500 million copies of his books in print.

Many of Robert Ludlum’s books are about one man or a group of individuals who struggle against powerful adversaries. The fast-paced books are full of political and economical intrigue and take place in both historical and contemporary settings. Many also touch on conspiracy theories. Robert also wrote under the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd and his Bourne Trilogy was expanded upon by Eric Van Lustbader in a further nine novels
