Anthony Horowitz's best-selling Stormbreaker series kicks off with this first instalment. Now the subject of a film starring Mickey Rourke and Bill Nighy, Stormbreaker is a fast-paced page-turner with lots of appeal for reluctant boy readers. When his guardian dies in suspicious circumstances, fourteen-year-old Alex Rider finds his world turned upside down. Forcibly recruited into MI6, Alex has to take part in gruelling SAS training exercises. Then, armed with his own special set of secret gadgets, he's off on his first mission to Cornwall, where Middle-Eastern multi-billionaire Herod Sayle is producing his state-of-the-art Stormbreaker computers. Sayle has offered to give one free to every school in the country - but there's more to the gift than meets the eye.

"Utterly Amazing and Full Of Suspense" -

I read his book and simply could not stop reading. It is a great mystery that involves non-stop action about a teenage spy. There are deaths talked about in the story so best suited to older children, both boys and girls, and would appeal to those who read Hunger Games and the Harry Potter series which also feature drama and danger. This book is awesome and I have already started the second Alex Rider book Point Blanc. Megan, 12 years old.

"5 star" -

The best book ever! The first of a mind-blowing mystery series. If you read it, you'll definitely get your money's worth. Even if you pay full price! It's fantastic.

"Brilliant" -

This first Alex Rider book is brilliant and I would recommend it for people who like mystery and adventure. 9+ would be the suitable rating for I have read it myself and Anthony Horowitz is an extremely good writer. If you enjoy this book you should definitely, in my opinion, read the rest of the series.
