Fantastic book -

This is a fantastic book and amazing value for money. My 5-year-old son loves it and finds new things to look at each time he reads it. Highly recommend.

Brilliant -

I have bought so many copies of this book, I give them as presents for birthday parties, most of the kids in my son and daughter's classes have a copy now and they are always appreciated.

Looked at time and time again -

This is a wonderful, informative book that my 5-year-old daughter loves. We borrowed it from the library and she was instantly hooked, so we bought it for her birthday. She is fascinated by how life used to be and never gets bored looking under the flaps. These books are jam-packed with information and I would say suitable for boys or girls from 5-8 years. They make great birthday presents too.

Fabulous -

We bought this on a trip to a castle, and a year later we're still enjoying it. It's full of detailed information in a very accessible format. My 4, now 5-year-old daughter loves it, and her 9-year-old brother also.

Superb See Inside Castles -

It's a long time since I bought an Usborne factual book, but this is even better than I remember them being. It shows, through gloriously detailed pictures, how castles developed from wooden buildings, to massive, stone defences, to the tumble down ruins we see today. Each page is packed with detail, with lots to look out for - there's a Who's who at the back, including Max the dog and Tigs the cat! The text is broken up into small, easy-to-read chunks and the flaps are great fun. The wording on top of one flap is..the moat is so smelly... then underneath, it shows ducks flying, and the words.. even the ducks fly away. I have bought a copy for a five-year-old castle-mad boy, but I know that, 20 years ago, my 7- year-old daughter would have loved this. It is how good factual books for children should be - colourful, accurate, intriguing, and fun.
