It's now over 400 years since the Bard died and his work still remains just as relevant and compelling today. Boasting 16 of William Shakespeare's most popular and enduring plays, this collection contains rewritten versions of all his most well-known tales.

From the tragedy of Macbeth to the humour of Much Ado About Nothing, this superb collection of paperbacks makes an excellent introduction to Shakespeare for younger readers.

The tales have been retold using accessible language and with the help of Tony Ross's engaging black-and-white illustrations, each play is vividly brought to life, allowing these culturally enriching stories to be shared with as wide an audience as possible.

Format: paperback
Please note that although these books are suitable for children aged 9 and over to enjoy independently, the themes they cover mean they may be considered more suitable for shared reading with children aged 7 plus.

Great stories retold -

These are great books. Cheap paper, so don't expect white pages, but they are told really well. I'm reading them to my 6-year-old but they are also suitable for older children.

Absolutely Fantastic -

This colourful little set gives a wonderful introduction to 16 of the best Shakespeare plays. The stories are short but get the point of the plays across very well. They would be perfect for bedtime stories or first readers, but slightly older children (9-12 year olds?) will enjoy them too as they are suitable for all ages. And seriously, for just ten pounds, there really isn't any reason not to buy!

Engaging! -

I took this set back to the States where I teach and my fifth graders (10- and 11-year-olds) LOVE them! It gives them a great introduction to the stories and themes and will hopefully encourage them to study Shakespeare when at middle or high school! I now have to go out and purchase the plays because they want to read the "real thing"!

My daughter is nine, a real bookworm and really loves these books. I'm enjoying reading them too.
