It's now over 400 years since the Bard died and his work still remains just as relevant and compelling today. Boasting 16 of William Shakespeare's most popular and enduring plays, this collection contains rewritten versions of all his most well-known tales.

From the tragedy of Macbeth to the humour of Much Ado About Nothing, this superb collection of paperbacks makes an excellent introduction to Shakespeare for younger readers.

The tales have been retold using accessible language and with the help of Tony Ross's engaging black-and-white illustrations, each play is vividly brought to life, allowing these culturally enriching stories to be shared with as wide an audience as possible.

Please note that although these books are suitable for children aged 9 and over to enjoy independently, the themes they cover mean they may be considered more suitable for shared reading with children aged 7 plus.

Great reads -

My 9-year-old son is learning about Shakespeare at school and is reading one of these books every day! He loves the stories and illustrations. A great introduction to Shakespeare.

Brilliant -

This is an excellent book set. My 6-year-old loved it. Reasonable price for £4.75 for each book. I have bought many sets for my little one and as a birthday gifts for her friends. Must have!

Brilliant! -

I bought the set hoping, rather than expecting my 7-year-old son to get into them, and... he's off! They are written in simple language, where the stories and plots can shine. Well paced, non-squeamish, short, with great illustrations, they feel to him, achievable and I think he's enjoying them as much as the Roald Dahl books, which I wasn't necessarily expecting.

A fantastic and inspirational buy -

These books are a definite 'must buy.' I wasn't sure how our children would react, whether they would be something we read together or independently. My 9-year-old son read two in the first day and hasn't put them down since. So many stories and they're all very thought-provoking for children in terms of morality. My daughter (7) has also enjoyed them, preferring to read with me, and they have sparked lots of interesting conversations.
