"Most popular story we have" -

This has been a firm favourite for some time now, firstly with my niece and nephew and now with my own little girl. The gentle rhyming throughout the story make it easy to read and fun to listen to. It is one of few books my 18mnth old will sit still all the way through. She enjoys it so much she even watches the DVD version with her bedtime drink some evenings!! A must buy book for anyone who hasn't already got this it simply lights up a childs eyes as they listen.

"You cannot beat it!" -

Just as the other review said, its brilliant. My son loves the story and has also just gone on to the Gruffalo's Child, the rhyming is very well done, a joy to read over and over and over again. Now keeping my eye out for the other titles by Julia Donaldson.

"Excellent!" -

This is an absolutely excellent book for young children. They really get drawn in to the mouse's story... . Mouse scares off an owl, a snake and a fox that fancy mouse for lunch by telling them he's having lunch with a monstrous beast known as "The Gruffalo", who mouse thinks he invented. He then meets the Gruffalo who also fancies mouse for lunch! Mouse manages to persuade the Gruffalo that he (mouse) is scary by retracing his steps and meeting up with the fox, owl and snake who all run away from him. The Gruffalo decides that mouse must be really dangerous and when mouse says he fancies Gruffalo for lunch the Gruffalo runs away. The rhyming verse of this wonderful tail is a delight for parents and children alike. One of my son's absolute favourites!
