Something terrible has happened. Eleven-year-old Aubrey is on her own. 'It was fun at first, playing house. Nothing to think about but TV and cheese. A perfect world'. She's determined to hide away and take care of herself, because facing the truth is too much to bear. 'I couldn't let anyone know that I was alone. I was staying right here'. But with the love of her grandmother and the letters she writes, can Aubrey begin to see that even though she's lost everything - all is not lost?

No Title -

Eleven year-old Aubrey has had to move from Virginia to Vermont following the sudden disappearance of her mum. The note she sees in her new school file there makes brutal reading: 'Survivor of a car crash that killed her father and sister', it says. 'Now living with her grandmother after being neglected by her mother.' How can Aubrey cope with so many traumatic events? Will her grandmother and her new friend Bridget help her overcome the difficulties in her life and help her feel less alone? I devoured this novel, by a new author called Suzanne LaFleur, in an entire day. The novel was extremely believable and moving and I couldn't wait to read how Aubrey handled everything that happened in her life. I admired her bravery and determination and I was relieved to find that she was able to make peace with her mother, and with the tragic circumstances that have changed her life. A book that sweeps you along with a storyline that draws you in - written by a new author who will hopefully publish many more novels for readers over the age of eleven!

"Alright" -

It was OK. The plot was a bit boring. A typical everyday thing. I would recommend for very young readers.

"9/10" -

Got this book free as a sort of trial in my first year of secondary school, it was quite interesting, but a bit easy to read, the plot of the story was good, I'd probably read it again, and my friends enjoyed it too.
