This powerful, enchanting tale is a riveting read.

Saba's world is falling apart, her twin brother is kidnapped and her Pa killed, red hot rage fills her body, seeping through her blood as she vows to get her brother back. Soon, she is on the Blood Red Road that leads to death, loss and love. Along her way, she will become something that she has never known before, she will be brave, fearless, a fighter. On this dangerous road, she can trust no one. Not even the handsome thief who saves her life - and steals her heart. My opinion of this book is high. Moira Young captivates you and sucks you in right from the start, making you want to read more and more, even when the book ends! It will blow you away with its storyline. In my opinion, it truly deserved the Costa Book Award for 2011 and will definitely make your heart pound with anticipation. It is fused with excitement that will satisfy Hunger Games fans and is a fantastic reading experience. I recommend it for 11-16 years for its dark vision of the future and its plot that moves faster than a cracked whip.

Saba has lived at Silverlake her whole life. It isn't easy. The civilization that once thrived has been destroyed, dangerous sandstorms sweep across the land and Saba and her family scavenge to survive. But this was how it was, this was Saba's life. One day four men draped in cloaks appeared after a sandstorm, kidnapped her beloved twin, Lugh, and killed her father. Only Saba and her little sister, Emmi, survive. Saba sets out to find Lugh and get her revenge. Not only does she discover the world outside of Silverlake but also learns much about herself. I loved the plot and the underlying messages about friendship, love and family.
