Kes Gray struck a chord with his toddler picture book Eat Your Peas, and he now introduces Daisy to an older readership In Daisy and the Trouble with Zoos. Illustrated by Nick Sharratt and Garry Parsons, Daisy's adventures with penguins will have newly independent readers laughing uproariously. This brilliant book was a winner of a Red House Children's Book Award and will delight readers from 7+.
Lovely, almost conversationally written books that my (quite grown-up) 5-year-old loves. She can manage a few pages by herself and feels very grown-up because although the language and way they are written is very accessible - the books look grown-up enough for her uber-cool 12-year-old cousin to be still enjoying!
I'm lucky enough to have a child who wants to read but at this price if you have a reluctant 7-/8-year-old give it a go. These books might just light the spark to get them excited and picking up books without being asked! Good luck!
Bought this for my son, aged 7, last week. He loved it and has read it twice already, enough said.
