Following on from the success of Mr Stink, Gangsta Granny and his three other bestselling children's novels, Little Britain actor, comedian, fundraiser and talented author David Walliams returns with Demon Dentist.

Another jaw-achingly funny read, this time a cloud of darkness has come to town. Children who put a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy are waking up to find dead slugs, live spiders and earwigs underneath. Someone or something evil is lurking, but who or what is it?

With Tony Ross' hilarious illustrations once again featured throughout and a hint of Roald Dahl-style macabre humour, this is a funny but heart-warming book that will make parents laugh just as much as children.

David Walliams' Demon Dentist has been named the winner of the Red House Children's Book Award 2015 Younger Readers category.

Reader review: Demon Dentist - Hardback - 9780007936427

The book is about a crazy tooth witch that collects everyone's teeth from under their pillow at night and leaves horrible gifts behind like eye balls that still twitch. The other main characters are Alfie, who is a little boy, his dad, his friend Gabz, his friend Raj and his social worker Winnie. Between them they find out and fight against the terrible tooth witch.

My favourite characters were Winnie because she wore colourful clothes and was funny and PC Plank because he always needed a snack like me.

I recommend this book for 7 and older as it has some scary pictures and parts of the story can be frightening for small children and it was very sad at the end (I nearly cried). Children that enjoy adventure books with a bit of gore will love this book. 5/5 most definitely!

This book will make you smile, laugh and cry...

Everything was fine until Miss Root came to town when strange and scary things started to happen. Demon Dentist is on a mission to collect every child's tooth across the world in the most gruesome way.

What I like most about the book are the surprises and mysteries that often made me jump. One of my favourite characters is Gabz because she is mischievous and smart and I also liked the Demon Dentist because she was dark, mysterious and unpredictable. My most favourite character is definitely the texting boy (there is always someone you know that is like him!). The character 'Dad' feels particularly real to me because he reminds me of my grandfather in many ways, he has a heroic role in the sinister story.

One of my most nerve wracking parts of the book was when Alfie and Gabz were hanging over a bowl of 'Mummy's Toothpaste.' Created by the Tooth Witch, it was dark yellow glob with all kinds of disgusting things in it like bat blood, cat droppings, and an old mans toenail.

Demon Dentist was gripping and made me laugh out loud from time-to-time. I loved the ending and I would not have changed it.

I have read all 6 of the David Walliams books and Demon Dentist is by far the best! The book is simply brilliant and must be read.

Demon Dentist is the best book I have read in a very long time, and trust me, I'm a right little bookworm, I can read books in an hour so I've read a lot. Alfie is coping with a very tough situation. No warmth, no food, no power! Poor little Alfred looks after his father as he's in a wheelchair and can't breathe very well. Alfie's life gets turned upside-down when a caring, fat and jolly social worker, Winnie, comes along. She is here to look after Alfie and his dad but she doesn't know she's unwanted. She just wants to help but is making it a little worse! Alfie was fine on his own. But what will happen when Winnie finds all of his old Dentist reminder letters he NEVER went to, or when she offers to take him to see Miss Root, the new dentist? Alfie had met her before but didn't feel comfortable with the shiny white, mysterious woman around. And with a dentist, you want to feel comfortable while they're poking around in your mouth! Alfie says no, but Winnie won't take no as an anwser! AMAZING!

I really enjoyed the book. I found it impossible to put it down. I like the way he introduces the characters at the start of the book with a caption next to the name of the character. I also like that he starts with the main character. It has a happy ending but the part before the end is quite sad.

I loved the book as it was thrilling due to the fact you don't know what's going to happen next. David Walliams racks up the tension, but if I had known it was a bit scary I wouldn't have read it at night!

My Granddaughter had been reading Mr Stink at school and could not put the book down. She informed me of Demon Dentist so I bought it as a treat. Boy; yet again was she glued to another David Walliams book and to be honest; I totally enjoyed her reading both books to me aloud. Excellent reading for any child.
