Dawn Isaac's 101 Things for Kids to Do Outside builds on the success of her blog Little Green Fingers and inspires children (and grown-ups) to get away from computer and TV screens and get outdoors.
From quick 10-minute activities to full days of fun, the ideas cover all four seasons and include building a human sundial, creating an outdoor collage and setting up a wormery.
Outdoor fun for everyone!
I bought a few of these books as prizes for our school Sunflower Growing Competition. Awarded to children ages 5-8 and they have been universally loved. All very enthusiastic about the activities included. I would really recommend this
101 Things for Kids to Do Outside -
Wow, this book is so fun, I bought it on a whim but I was immediately wanting to do some activities that weekend, luckily so were my kids I have a 5- and 12-year-old. I made a mistake of asking them to mark which activities they really wanted to do and would say 90% of the book was marked. We've done loads already including the mini pond. Would love another of these please .
A great book bursting with great ideas -
Really looking forward to working through all of the ideas in this. The book is pitched in such a fun way (to your child, which I liked and so does he!) that you can't help but feel inspired to take part immediately. I'll certainly be ordering more of these to share with children who might need that little bit of convincing that the outdoors holds a world of fun! Looking forward to the next book!
Some ideas are simple, while some require a little preparation. The index is split into age groups, easy/ longer projects, seasons & games/ gardening/crafts. Truly a fantastic book - I'm just waiting to make a snow lantern!
A lovely book packed full of fun ideas. Beautiful photographs to accompany each activity. All directions are written to the child rather than to the adult supervising the activity. A really great book.
