From the author of the bestselling Fallen series, at Book People we are delighted to have Lauren Kate back for the first instalment of her new trilogy, Teardrop, and we're sure her fans are too.

Eureka is a 17-year-old girl who in her life has never shed a single tear, even after the unexpected death of her mother. Eureka was in the car with her when it happened. How did she survive? Why did she survive?

Struggling to cope, Eureka meets Anders - whose eyes take her breath away - and uncovers an ancient myth about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea, with which Eureka begins to piece together the the circumstances of her mother's death and the secrets of her own destiny...

Full of suspense, romance and dark undercurrents, Lauren Kate's Teardrop introduces a new set of characters that young adult fans of The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove and the Fallen series will absolutely love.

There has always been secrets kept from people since the dawn of time; secrets which were kept to protect, reassure and make sure the world is safe from evil and misfortune. But sometimes secrets get twisted and two sides are made, making it hard to find the truth now drowning in sorrow. It only takes three things to turn someone's world upside down; number one: a car crash, number two: a boy, number three: a book. Combine these three ingredients together and here unfolds our story; the girl who knows death, the boy with the hidden secret and the book which hides the key. Eureka needs to uncover the past to see into the future but that’s hard to do when you are the girl who cannot cry. I love the fact that this book combines ancient myths and modern stereotypes together. It grips you from the moment you open the book and fills your heart with love, humour and surprise. If you love mystery, ancient stories and structured plot twists then this is the book for you. Superb! I don't like that it is compared to Romeo and Juliet when clearly this book is so much better.
