Anthony Horowitz launched a phenomenal action-packed adventure series with Stormbreaker, the first book starring teenage superspy, Alex Rider.

His teenage hero is cool, contemporary and brave - just the right sort of hero to entice reluctant readers aged 9 and over to get reading. As the book begins, Alex discovers that his uncle - who has looked after him since he was a baby - has been killed in a car crash.

What's more... he was a spy not a banker - and now Alex is being recruited to help on a MI6 mission. Told at breakneck pace and with tons of suspense, this is an irresistible read.

Red House Reader Review

Reader review: Alex Rider: Stormbreaker - Paperback - 9781406360196

Alex Rider is an ordinary 14-year-old until he is recruited by MI6 to pose as Felix Lester, who is travelling to Cornwall as he has won a competition to test the first Stormbreaker computer, made by the mysterious Herod Sayle. Armed with an array of ingenious gadgets, he must find out the truth about Sayle before it's too late...

I loved this book, because it is suspenseful and serious with a splash of humour. It has such a variety of character personalities and it's just as good as the other books in the Alex Rider series which I'm really enjoying reading my way through. I rate it 5/5!

Utterly amazing and full of suspense -

I read his book and simply could not stop reading. It is a great mystery that involves non-stop action about a teenage spy. There are deaths talked about in the story so best suited to older children, both boys and girls, and would appeal to those who read Hunger Games and the Harry Potter series which also feature drama and danger. This book is awesome and I have already started the second Alex Rider book Point Blanc. Megan, 12 years old.

The best book ever! The first of a mind-blowing mystery series. If you read it, you'll definitely get your money's worth. Even if you pay full price! It's fantastic.

Brilliant -

This first Alex Rider book is brilliant and I would recommend it for people who like mystery and adventure. 9+ would be the suitable rating for I have read it myself and Anthony Horowitz is an extremely good writer. If you enjoy this book you should definitely, in my opinion, read the rest of the series.
